Web Crippling Load


1. All allowable loads listed are based upon AISI S100 except members noted with an * are based on AISI S220
2. Listed allowable loads apply to S-sections
3. For back-to-back members, the allowable loads are for the two-member assembly.
4. Listed allowable loads are based on members fastened to supports except back-to-back members under two-flange loading.
5. For back-to-back members, the web fasteners should be placed as close as possible to each flange.
6. Listed allowable loads are based on unpunched webs. Consult with licensed engineer if punched web loads are needed
7. “h” refers to flat dimension of the web. For a C-shaped member, h is the total depth minus twice the radius minus twice the thickness

1. loads followed by ‘a’ denote bearing length to web height (N/h) excceds limit of 2. Per AISI S100 section A1.2(c), Min safety factor is 2
2. loads followed by ‘b’ denote bearing length to thickness (N/t) excceds limit of 210. Per AISI S100 section A1.2(c), Min safety factor is 2

  • Complies with North American Specification for the Design of Cold-Formed Steel Structural Members, S100-16 (2020) w/ Supplement 2-20 using U.S. provisions,
    and meets the requirements of the IBC 2015 Building Code, as well as the 2011 California Building Code.
